Mauricio Dubón and Ozzie Albies each launched three-run home runs, propelling the Atlanta Braves to a decisive 7-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night at Truist Park.
Dubón Breaks Open the Game
Dubón's pivotal blast came in the third inning, breaking a scoreless tie and giving the Braves a commanding lead. The shot, which sailed over the left-field wall, was his fourth home run of the season and highlighted a crucial offensive outburst for Atlanta.
Albies Adds Insurance
Not to be outdone, Ozzie Albies added his own three-run homer in the fifth inning, extending the Braves' lead to 7-0. Albies' 12th home run of the year provided all the cushion the pitching staff would need, as the Blue Jays mounted a late rally but fell short.
The Braves' pitching staff, led by starter Charlie Morton, held the Blue Jays in check for most of the night. Morton pitched six strong innings, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out six. The bullpen, however, allowed a run in the ninth, but closer Kenley Jansen shut the door to secure the win.
Blue Jays Struggle Offensively
Toronto's offense managed only three runs on seven hits, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. providing a solo home run in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, stranding six runners on base.
The victory improves the Braves' record to 35-22, keeping them atop the National League East standings. The Blue Jays, now 30-27, will look to bounce back in the series finale on Thursday.
