The Toronto Blue Jays delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, defeating the Los Angeles Angels 14-1 at Rogers Centre. Brandon Valenzuela and Ernie Clement were the offensive stars, combining for five hits and seven RBIs.
Valenzuela's big day
Valenzuela went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in the fifth inning off Angels pitcher Mitch Farris. He also added a double and finished with four RBIs. The catcher's homer was part of a five-run fifth that broke the game open.
Clement contributes
Ernie Clement chipped in with two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. He scored twice and helped spark the offense from the leadoff spot.
The Blue Jays pounded out 16 hits and drew six walks, while Angels pitchers struggled to find the strike zone. Toronto starter Kevin Gausman earned the win, allowing one run on four hits over six innings with seven strikeouts.
The Angels' lone run came on a solo homer by Mike Trout in the fourth inning. Los Angeles managed just five hits in the game.
