The Carolina Hurricanes have captured their first Stanley Cup in 20 years, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in Game 6 of the NHL finals on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
Historic Victory
The Hurricanes, who last won the championship in 2006, sealed the series with a dominant performance at T-Mobile Arena. Captain Jordan Staal led the team with two goals, while goaltender Frederik Andersen made 32 saves to secure the win.
"This is an incredible feeling," said Staal, who has been with the franchise for over a decade. "We've worked so hard for this, and to bring the Cup back to Carolina is a dream come true."

The Hurricanes jumped to a 3-1 series lead before the Golden Knights forced a Game 6 with a overtime win at home. Carolina responded with a commanding performance, scoring three goals in the first period and never looking back.
"We knew they would come out hard, but our guys were ready," said head coach Rod Brind'Amour. "The resilience of this group is unmatched."
Celebration in Raleigh
Back in Raleigh, thousands of fans gathered at PNC Arena to watch the game on the big screen, erupting in cheers as the final buzzer sounded. The city plans a parade later this week to honor the champions.
This marks the second Stanley Cup in franchise history, both coming under the Hurricanes name since relocating from Hartford in 1997.
