Canucks Add Agent Daren Hermiston to Front Office

The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly adding player agent Daren Hermiston to their front office, according to multiple reports. Hermiston, who currently represents several WHL-connected players, is expected to take on a role focused on player development and performance.

A WHL team executive praised Hermiston's ability to assess talent, stating: "He did a good job identifying and bringing in quality players, while also seeing the potential in players who may not have been the obvious choices at a younger age. He was able to look beyond current production and recognize what a player could become over time. He communicates well, carries himself professionally, and works effectively with players, families, and staff."

Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK's Donnie and Dhali reports that Hermiston is joining Vancouver in a capacity "something along the lines of director of player development and player performance." PuckPedia also reports that Hermiston is expected to move from his job representing players for The Team into a "player development role." The Canucks have yet to make any official announcement regarding Hermiston.

Hermiston's current client list includes Canucks winger Arshdeep Bains and defenceman Ryan Lin, who is projected to be a first-round pick in this month's NHL Draft after two seasons with the Vancouver Giants. Bains, 25, signed with Hermiston in December 2024 after leaving agent Harkie Singh, and inked a two-year extension with Vancouver in June 2025. The Surrey native originally signed as an undrafted free agent with Vancouver in March 2022 after starring with the Red Deer Rebels.

Lin, 18, a Richmond product, is predicted to go in the first half of the first round. He announced on social media in April that he is leaving the Giants to play next season for the University of Denver. Additionally, Hermiston represents former Giants forward Tyler Thorpe, 20, another Richmond native currently in the Montreal Canadiens farm system. Another notable client with WHL ties is defenceman Harrison Brunicke, 20, a Pittsburgh Penguins prospect who played last season with the Kamloops Blazers and represented Team Canada at the world juniors.

The Team, formerly operating as Wasserman Hockey, also features agents Judd Moldaver, Rich Winter, Kurt Overhardt, and Dave Gagner, a former Canucks centre. According to PuckPedia, Moldaver's clients include Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Roman Josi, Zach Werenski, Kiefer Sherwood, and Conor Garland.
