Bulldogs, Storm Players Prepare for 2026 NHL Draft

Brantford Bulldogs and Guelph Storm players are intensifying their preparations for the 2026 NHL draft, as scouts from across the league monitor their progress throughout the Ontario Hockey League season. Both teams feature a crop of young talent expected to be selected in the upcoming draft, which will be held in June 2026.

Key Prospects to Watch

Among the Bulldogs, forward Caleb Malhotra has drawn significant attention for his playmaking abilities and hockey IQ. The 17-year-old has recorded 15 goals and 20 assists in 30 games this season, according to team statistics. Meanwhile, Guelph Storm defenseman Liam O’Donnell has impressed scouts with his physical play and offensive instincts, tallying 8 goals and 18 assists in 28 games.

“Both players have shown tremendous growth this season,” said OHL scout Mike Johnson. “Their work ethic and skill set make them strong candidates for early-round selections.”

Impact of Draft Prep on Team Performance

As individual players focus on draft positioning, both teams are also competing for playoff berths. The Bulldogs currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with a 18-10-2 record, while the Storm are seventh at 15-14-1. Coaches emphasize that team success remains a priority. “We’re proud of our guys for balancing personal goals with team objectives,” said Bulldogs head coach Dave Matsos. “Their dedication is evident every shift.”

The 2026 NHL draft is projected to be deep, with several OHL players expected to be selected in the first round. Scouts will continue to evaluate prospects at upcoming games and the OHL’s Top Prospects Game in January.
