Spring Street Sweeping Underway in Greater Sudbury
The City of Greater Sudbury has initiated its annual spring street sweeping program, beginning today, May 11, 2026. Operations will first target the Ramsey Lake watershed, high-priority drainage areas, and sidewalks in busy pedestrian zones. The citywide expansion is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
This seasonal effort aims to clear debris and sand accumulated over winter, improving road safety and preventing drainage blockages. Residents are advised to avoid parking on streets designated for sweeping to facilitate efficient operations. The city has deployed specialized equipment to handle the task, with crews working systematically across neighborhoods.
City officials emphasize the importance of spring sweeping for environmental protection, particularly in the Ramsey Lake watershed, where runoff management is critical. The program also supports pedestrian safety in high-traffic areas. Updates on the sweeping schedule will be provided through municipal channels.
