Saskatchewan's crime reduction teams laid a total of 1,200 criminal charges in 2025, according to data released by the province. The charges were part of a coordinated effort to combat organized crime, drug trafficking, and weapons offenses.
Breakdown of charges
The charges included 400 drug-related offenses, 300 weapons charges, and 200 offenses linked to organized crime. The remaining 300 charges covered various other criminal activities, including theft and assault.
Provincewide operations
The crime reduction teams operated in multiple cities, including Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert. They conducted numerous searches, seizures, and arrests throughout the year.
Police officials highlighted the success of the teams in disrupting criminal networks and removing illegal firearms from communities.
Community impact
Local leaders praised the efforts, noting a decrease in violent crime in areas where the teams were most active. However, they emphasized the need for continued investment in crime prevention and social programs.
The Saskatchewan government has committed to funding the crime reduction teams through 2026.
