Calgary police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the North Hill Co-op on Monday evening, leaving one person dead and another injured.

Incident Details

At approximately 7:50 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the North Hill Co-op, located at 520 16 Ave. N.W. Upon arrival, police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where one man later succumbed to his injuries.

Suspects and Public Safety

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made. However, investigators believe the shooting was targeted and have assured the public that there is no ongoing risk. The store was temporarily placed under lockdown to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

Police Appeal for Information

Duty Insp. Darren Smith emphasized the impact of such violent acts on the community. “Public safety is our number one priority, and Calgarians deserve to feel safe at all times in their communities. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact police immediately.”
