Police in Kitchener have arrested an Aurora man in connection with an ATM break-in that occurred earlier this week. The suspect, whose name has not been released, faces multiple charges including breaking and entering and theft.
According to authorities, the incident took place at a local bank branch where the suspect allegedly forced entry into the building and tampered with an automated teller machine, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect through surveillance footage and tips from the public. He was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Aurora.
The arrest comes as part of a broader effort by police to combat a recent uptick in ATM-related crimes in the region. Officials are reminding business owners to ensure their security systems are up to date and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court later this week. Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
