Trump Jr.'s Iran War Boast Backfires With Community Note

Donald Trump Jr. received an awkward reminder on Monday of a boast he made in April 2024 about his father, then the Republican presidential nominee.

The Original Post

“Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran?” Trump Jr. wrote on X at the time. “Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve,” he added.

The post resurfaced online Monday, with critics quickly highlighting a pointed community note added beneath it by readers. “Trump got us into a war with Iran,” the note simply read. It linked to the Wikipedia page for the “Timeline of the 2026 Iran war,” which states the conflict began more than 10 weeks ago following U.S.-Israeli strikes known as “Operation Epic Fury” on Feb. 28.

Social Media Reactions

Users on X were quick to mock the post. One user wrote, “Community Notes lmao.” Another commented, “Literally laughing out loud at the reader added context. I’m never deleting this app.” Mehdi Hasan remarked, “What a 2024 take!” Others simply noted, “This aged well” and “Aged like milk.” The post has drawn widespread criticism for its inaccurate prediction.
