Megyn Kelly has come to the defense of President Donald Trump for "occasionally nodding off" in public, just days after she attacked him for cheating "on every wife he's had."
Kelly's Remarks on Trump's Nodding Off
"I love how Trump occasionally nodding off has got to be some secret, scary medical issue (obviously they're raising his fitness for office)," the political commentator wrote. "Maybe it's just that he doesn't sleep much at night and these events are … kinda long/dry/not that scintillating?"
Kelly posted her remarks alongside a Mediaite story that cited CNN's medical analyst, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, who questioned Trump's apparent inability to stay awake during some events. The story was published Tuesday — the same day the president had another physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Medical Analyst's Concerns
"The president has severe daytime somnolence," Reiner said. "He falls asleep very often. He's fallen asleep in the Oval Office on multiple occasions with people talking to him in the cabinet room, and there was concern yesterday that he might have fallen asleep at Arlington National Cemetery during Memorial Day observances."
Trump's Medical Visit
Trump boasted in a Truth Social post on Tuesday that his three-hour medical visit went "perfectly." The visit was Trump's third scheduled medical appointment at Walter Reed in 13 months and comes amid rising concerns about his cognitive and physical health, ABC News reports.
"Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY," the president wrote. "Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff!"
Kelly's Recent Criticism of Trump
Kelly's defense of Trump is quite the change from last week, when she accused him of frequent infidelity and discussed much more.
"I mean, Trump has cheated on every wife he's had," she said during Friday's episode of the "Hodgetwins Podcast." "He met Marla Maples while he was still married to the mother of his children, Ivana [Trump]. It was all over the New York papers ... Like he was proud of the affair!"
Kelly didn't stop there. "And by the way, Ivana, his first wife, accused him of raping her," she said. The late Ivana Trump later retracted the allegation in 2015 after Donald Trump announced he was running for president. Trump has repeatedly denied the 1989 incident. Kelly also hedged the claim, adding, "I don't know whether that's true or not, but just saying, clearly not a great relationship there."
Delivering another blow to the president, this time in reference to his third and current marriage to first lady Melania Trump, Kelly said, "If you think Trump's been faithful to Melania, that's great. You've got bigger issues than I can solve here."
