Shhh, Colin Jost! Don't give President Donald Trump and his cohorts any ideas. The "Saturday Night Live" star joined internet personality Kareem Rahma for his popular series "Subway Takes" in a video published Tuesday, and, at the tail end of their conversation, Jost made a pretty depressing prediction.
"I think Donald Trump's going to get a third term. That's my prediction," Jost said, leaving Rahma speechless. "I predicted when he was running in 2020," Jost added. "I was like, if he gets elected, it's for eight years."
Jost went on to anticipate the MAGA-fueled logic behind the projected move. "He's going to have something where he's like, 'Democrats stole my first term because of the impeachment, so I didn't even have a first term, so this is actually my first term, so I get one more,'" Jost explained. "And then the Supreme Court will be like, 'That's a pretty good argument. It seems like we've got to overlook the Constitution.'"
Rahma laughed at Jost's anticipation that the Supreme Court would just ignore the 22nd Amendment to appease Trump, considering that the public currently views the high court as less bipartisan and more like, as Chief Justice John Roberts put it, "purely political actors."
"I think we just have to prepare for it," Jost said. "You're being serious right now?" an incredulous Rahma asked. "I am 100% serious," Jost said with a laugh. "Now you're scaring me," Rahma said, genuinely. "No, 100%!" Jost said more seriously. "Yeah, because who's going to beat him? No one. There's no one that's going to beat him."
To Jost's credit, Trump has publicly teased the idea of running for a third — or "fourth" — term. Trump told NBC News in 2025 that he's "not joking" when he rambles on about possibly running for a third term in 2028. "There are methods which you could do it," Trump told NBC.
