Toronto police are investigating three separate shootings that occurred across the city on Wednesday, including one near a playground in the Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue area. The incidents have prompted increased patrols and a call for witnesses to come forward.
Playground Shooting
The first shooting took place near a playground at Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found evidence of shots fired. No injuries were reported, but the area was cordoned off for investigation. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with residents.
Additional Incidents
Two other shootings occurred in different parts of the city. One was reported in the Rexdale neighborhood, where a vehicle was struck by gunfire. The third incident happened near a commercial plaza in Scarborough. No injuries have been reported in any of the shootings.
Police believe the incidents are isolated and not connected, but they are exploring all possibilities. Investigators urge anyone with information to contact the Toronto Police Service or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Community Response
Local residents expressed concern about the violence near the playground. “It’s frightening to think this happened where children play,” said a parent who lives nearby. Police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community.
The investigations are ongoing, and updates will be provided as more details emerge.
