Oshawa Tim Hortons Altercation Turns Deadly
A 23-year-old man from Oshawa has been pronounced dead following a violent confrontation outside a Tim Hortons restaurant on Saturday night. Durham Regional Police are actively searching for suspects in connection with the incident.
Officers responded to an armed person call in the area of Simcoe Street and Winchester Road at approximately 8:10 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from traumatic injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, he was declared dead at the scene.
According to police, two groups of males were involved in a physical altercation outside the establishment. During the fight, the victim sustained fatal injuries. The primary suspect, along with several other males, fled on foot in a southerly and easterly direction from the Tim Hortons.
An extensive search was launched with the assistance of the Air1 helicopter and K9 unit, but the suspects were not located. Authorities have assured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to community safety.
The victim's identity has not been released at this time. The homicide unit has assumed control of the investigation. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to come forward, especially those with cellphone, dash-cam, or surveillance footage. This marks the third homicide in Durham Region in 2026.
Arrest Made After Pedestrian Struck in Etobicoke
In a separate incident, Toronto Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a serious collision in Etobicoke on Saturday evening. Officers responded to reports of a female pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Kipling Avenue and Horner Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m.
The female victim was transported to hospital via emergency run. Police later described her injuries as non-life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene but was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle has been recovered.
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents and urge anyone with additional information to contact the respective police services.
