Man Dead in Etobicoke Stabbing; Suspect Arrested

Toronto Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred overnight in an Etobicoke apartment complex. A man in his 30s was pronounced dead after being transported to hospital with stab wounds. The incident took place around midnight in the Kipling Avenue and Albion Road area.

Suspect in Custody

Police responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Officers arrested a suspect nearby, also believed to be in his 30s.

Duty Insp. Peter Wallace told reporters that the victim and suspect appear to be known to each other. "It appears that the victim and the suspect are known to each other," Wallace said. "As such, there's no threat to public safety."

Investigation Underway

While the investigation is in its early stages, Wallace indicated the stabbing may have occurred inside a unit, likely stemming from a dispute. The homicide unit has taken over the case. No names have been released.

Residents can expect a police presence in the area as officers canvass and speak with witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Woman Injured in Downtown Rollover

In a separate incident, a woman sustained serious injuries in a rollover crash in downtown Toronto. Emergency crews responded to Strachan Avenue, just south of Queen Street, shortly after 3 a.m. Toronto Fire Services helped extricate one person from the vehicle. Paramedics transported the woman to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
