A fire broke out at a Centretown home on Tuesday afternoon after an air conditioning unit ignited, according to Ottawa Fire Services. Firefighters responded to the scene on Bay Street shortly before 4:00 PM EDT. Crews arrived to find flames and smoke coming from the exterior of the home. The fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the ignition is under investigation. Ottawa Fire Services reminds residents to ensure proper maintenance of air conditioning units and to keep them clear of debris. The fire was contained to the exterior of the building, and damage was limited. Residents were able to return to their homes after the scene was declared safe.
