A ninth individual has been charged in connection with the 2024 homicide of Tim Tootoosis in Saskatoon, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation. A 26-year-old woman faces charges of first-degree murder and is set to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Friday.

Latest Arrest and Charges

Saskatoon police announced the arrest in a news release issued on Thursday. The woman, whose identity is protected by a standard publication ban at this stage of proceedings, is charged with first-degree murder, offering an indignity to human remains, and unlawful confinement. She remained in police custody pending her scheduled court appearance on Friday morning.

This arrest brings the total number of people accused in the case to nine. The death of 30-year-old Tim Tootoosis was Saskatoon's 15th homicide of 2024. His body was discovered inside a residence on the 1700 block of 22nd Street West on December 18, 2024.

Series of Arrests in the Investigation

The investigation has seen a series of arrests over recent weeks. Just prior to this latest charge, police announced on November 21 that Rodrick Pierre Rabbitskin, 39, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and offering an indignity to human remains.

Earlier, on November 19, two women were taken into custody. Destini Gardypie, 43, faces charges of first-degree murder and unlawful confinement, while Nakita Tootoosis, 34, is charged with manslaughter.

Prior to that, between November 6 and 17, Saskatoon police arrested and charged five men. Those individuals are:

  • Vernon Peequaquat, 45
  • Donovan Lemstra, 41
  • Michael Landry, 40
  • Michael McCallum, 27

All five men are charged with first-degree murder, offering an indignity to human remains, and unlawful confinement.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

The case continues to move through the justice system as each accused person makes their required court appearances. The addition of a ninth person charged underscores the complexity of the investigation into Tootoosis's death. Authorities have not released further details regarding the specific roles each individual is alleged to have played, as the matter is now before the courts.
