Windsor Police Seize Nearly $10,000 in Drugs and Firearm in Separate Incidents

In a significant law enforcement operation, Windsor police have apprehended two individuals and confiscated a substantial cache of illegal narcotics and a firearm following a targeted traffic stop. The arrests involved a 21-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, leading to multiple charges related to drug trafficking and firearm offenses.

Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug and Weapon Seizure

According to the Windsor Police Service, officers responded to a disturbance report in the 2600 block of Vine Court in the early hours of January 19. Upon arrival, they identified a vehicle connected to the incident and conducted a traffic stop. The 21-year-old male passenger was arrested for breaching his release conditions, while the 50-year-old female driver was taken into custody for obstructing officers during the arrest.

With the assistance of K9 Smoke, a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted. This search resulted in the seizure of a Sig Sauer handgun along with ammunition. Additionally, police discovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs, including:

  • 35.2 grams of cocaine
  • 95.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 20.6 grams of fentanyl
  • 37 oxycodone tablets
  • 5 morphine capsules
  • 1.5 Clonazepam tablets
  • 8 Naloxone tablets

Further items seized included two digital scales, five cell phones, and $3,375 in Canadian currency. The total estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately $9,960.

Multiple Charges Filed Against Both Suspects

As a direct result of the investigation, both the man and woman face serious charges. They have each been charged with:

  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
  • Possession of an unloaded firearm
  • Contravention of section 117 of the Firearms Act
  • Four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

The male suspect received additional charges, including two counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a prohibited firearm without a licence, and possession of a prohibited device without authority. The female suspect was charged with three extra counts: possession of a prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration, unlicensed person in possession of a prohibited weapon, and obstructing a peace officer.

Connection to Separate Firearm Incident

Following the arrests, Windsor police investigators linked the 21-year-old male to a separate road rage incident that occurred on January 11 in the area of Central Avenue and Tecumseh Road East. In this incident, the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at another motorist and uttered threats before fleeing the scene.

Consequently, the man faces five additional charges related to this event:

  1. Pointing a firearm
  2. Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
  3. Uttering death threats
  4. Possession of a firearm without a licence
  5. Failing to comply with a release order
