Windsor police have launched a public appeal for information following two separate hit-and-run incidents that left pedestrians injured on the same day. The collisions occurred on December 2 in different areas of the city, and investigators are urging witnesses and residents with potential video evidence to come forward.
First Incident: Afternoon Collision on Reginald Street
The first incident took place shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Reginald Street near Ford Boulevard. According to police, a male pedestrian was walking eastbound toward Ford Boulevard when he was struck by a red pickup truck.
The driver failed to stop at the scene following the collision. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a red Dodge Ram or Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Second Incident: Evening Hit-and-Run at Wyandotte and Wellington
Later that evening, just after 7 p.m., officers responded to a second hit-and-run at the intersection of Wyandotte Street West and Wellington Avenue. In this case, a female pedestrian was walking southbound in a crosswalk when a vehicle turning left onto Wyandotte Street West struck her.
The impact caused the victim to fall, and the vehicle then ran over her leg. Police report that the driver initially pulled over and observed the injured woman before fleeing the scene westbound on Wyandotte Street West.
A description of the suspect has been released. He is described as a black male, approximately 25 to 45 years old, tall with a slender build, and clean-shaven. At the time of the incident, he was wearing:
- An orange reflective jacket
- A multi-coloured toque
- Glasses
- Blue jeans
The vehicle involved in this second incident is described as a dark grey or black SUV.
Police Appeal for Public Assistance
Both victims received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The Windsor Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit is now leading the investigation and is asking for the community's help.
Investigators are specifically requesting that residents and business owners in the areas of both collisions review any surveillance or dashcam footage they may have from December 2. Any video, no matter how brief, could provide crucial evidence.
