Windsor Police Thwart Violent Early Morning Home Invasion, Arrest Four Suspects
In a swift response to a reported robbery, Windsor Police have successfully arrested four individuals connected to a violent home invasion that unfolded in the early hours of the morning. The incident, which involved the use of weapons and resulted in an assault on a resident, has led to multiple serious charges against the suspects.
Details of the Incident
At approximately 8 a.m. on March 21, officers from the Windsor Police Service were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 300 block of Glengarry Avenue following reports of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, police quickly established a perimeter around the building to secure the area and prevent any escape attempts.
Investigators determined that four masked individuals had forcibly entered a residential unit within the complex. Inside, they assaulted the occupant using a hammer and dog repellent spray, and reportedly brandished a knife during the altercation. The suspects proceeded to steal personal belongings from the victim before fleeing the scene.
Arrests and Charges
During a thorough search of the property, officers located two suspects hiding inside a unit. A third suspect was arrested within the building several hours later, while a fourth was apprehended later that day in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue.
The suspects, aged 36, 20, and 29, have been charged with a range of offences including:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Robbery with an offensive weapon
- Administering a noxious substance
- Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
Additionally, the 29-year-old suspect faces an extra charge of failure to comply with a release order. A fourth suspect, aged 40, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and robbery with an offensive weapon.
Recovery of Evidence
Police have confirmed that several weapons and items used during the incident have been recovered as part of their investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
