Peel Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 28-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Tuesday in Mississauga. The suspect, Jerome Edwards, is wanted on charges of second-degree murder.
Police responded to reports of a stabbing around 12:15 p.m. near the intersection of Hurontario Street and Agnes Street, just north of Dundas Street West. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 32-year-old man, later identified as Chay Wilson of Mississauga, who had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim and suspect were involved in a physical altercation in a nearby parking lot prior to the stabbing. The Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation and identified Edwards as the primary suspect.
Police Urge Suspect to Surrender
In a statement, police urged Edwards to seek legal counsel and turn himself in. They also warned the public that anyone found harboring or assisting the suspect may face arrest and charges.
Edwards is described as a Black male with a medium build, short black hair, and a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a black zippered jacket, fluorescent green pants, yellow Timberland-style boots, and a black watch on his right wrist. Police believe he frequents the Hurontario and Dundas Streets area.
Public Warning
Authorities caution the public not to approach Edwards, as he is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is advised to call 911 immediately.
