A 26-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday morning, just after 7 a.m., after Windsor Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver who had allegedly driven through a construction site. The incident took place in the 6200 block of Tecumseh Road East, where officers located and stopped the vehicle.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers observed several signs of impairment, according to official police statements. The woman was subsequently transported to police headquarters for further investigation.
Breath Test Administration and Charges
At headquarters, a breath test was administered to the driver. Police allege that she failed the test, leading to her arrest. She now faces two charges of impaired driving in connection with this incident.
Second Arrest Hours Later on Walker Road
Just four hours after the first arrest, Windsor Police received another tip about a possibly impaired driver. This report led officers to the 1200 block of Walker Road, where they discovered a man asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Officers woke the man and conducted an assessment. During their interaction, they observed alleged signs of impairment and noted the presence of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Drug Recognition Evaluation and Arrest
According to police officials, the driver underwent a drug recognition expert evaluation and failed the assessment. The 29-year-old man was arrested and now faces one count of impaired operation.
