Major Drug Bust in Montreal and Laval

Montreal police have announced a significant drug bust resulting in two arrests and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal narcotics. The operation, which took place last week, targeted locations in Montreal and Laval, leading to the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of $230,000.

Details of the Seized Contraband

On November 19, warrants were executed in the Villeray–St-Michel–Parc-Extension borough of Montreal and in Laval. During these raids, investigators successfully seized a substantial amount of illegal substances. The haul included:

  • Six kilograms of cocaine
  • 6.7 grams of crystal meth
  • 25,000 amphetamine tablets
  • 360 grams of MDMA (ecstasy)

In addition to the drugs, police also confiscated approximately $144,500 in Canadian currency.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

As a direct result of this operation, two individuals were taken into custody. Karim Cawki, 33, has been formally charged with possession and trafficking of illegal narcotics and has already appeared in court. The second person who was arrested was subsequently released without any charges being filed.

This seizure represents a significant blow to local drug trafficking operations and underscores the ongoing efforts of the Montreal police to combat the distribution of illegal substances in the region.
