Two Men Arrested Minutes After Clarence-Rockland Bank Robbery
Two men were arrested only minutes after a late-February bank robbery in Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, following a swift police response that led to their capture without incident.
Robbery in Progress Reported
At approximately 9:25 a.m. on February 27, Ontario Provincial Police officers received a report that a robbery was in progress at a financial institution in Clarence-Rockland. According to police, two individuals had entered the bank, with one allegedly holding what appeared to be a black handgun. The suspects were reportedly seen leaving the area in a black Ford F-150 truck.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests
Police were already in the area at the time of the incident. At about 9:43 a.m., officers from the Hawkesbury OPP detachment noticed a vehicle matching the description travelling on County Road 17 in Plantagenet. The truck was stopped, and two suspects were taken into custody without any incident, as confirmed by the OPP in a news release issued on March 9.
Charges and Investigation Details
The two individuals arrested have been identified as Daniel Loyer, 57, from Loyalist Township, and Denis Richard, 59, of Gatineau. Both men have been charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent. As of Monday, the two accused remained in custody, and the investigation is ongoing, according to police statements.
