Hamilton Police Execute Search Warrants in Drug and Shooting Investigation
In a separate development, Hamilton Police have made significant progress in an ongoing investigation involving both drug trafficking and a previous shooting incident. On Friday, January 23, 2026, search warrants were executed at a residence in Ancaster as part of this dual investigation.
Substantial Drug Seizure and Charges Laid
The search resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit substances and related paraphernalia. Among the items confiscated were approximately 6.5 kilograms of cocaine, 80 grams of fentanyl, 280 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 9mm ammunition, multiple cellular phones, and digital scales used in drug distribution.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation. Mahamud Ibrahim, a 45-year-old Hamilton resident, faces 14 firearm-related offences, three drug-related charges, and one count each of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and aggravated assault. Marcela Manriquez, 39, also of Hamilton, has been charged with three drug-related offences and one count of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
These charges are connected to both the drug investigation and a shooting that occurred on May 9, 2025, at a business located in the Main Street East and East Avenue South area of Hamilton. The investigation remains active, with police continuing to pursue leads.
Additional Hamilton Incidents: Bear Spray Attack and Knife Threats
Hamilton Police have also provided updates on other recent violent incidents within the city. In a separate case, two youths aged 15 and 17 have been charged in connection with a bear spray attack that occurred on the East Mountain.
The incident unfolded last Wednesday evening when a 15-year-old male victim arrived by rideshare to meet a friend. Upon exiting the vehicle, he was confronted by a group of male youths brandishing knives and bear spray. The victim was sprayed and fled on foot, with the group pursuing him.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the victim sought refuge in a nearby vehicle belonging to a resident who was clearing snow at the time. The suspects gained access to the vehicle and continued to spray the victim inside. When the vehicle owner intervened, he was threatened at knifepoint while his wife and infant were nearby.
The suspects eventually fled the area, and the youth victim was transported to hospital by ambulance. The two arrested youths now face multiple charges including uttering threats to cause death, administering a noxious substance, and assault with a weapon.
Hamilton Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Hamilton Police Service Shooting Response Team at 905-546-4883 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Hamilton at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
