A 36-year-old Toronto man is facing a series of serious charges following a disturbing incident in the city's downtown core, where a tent and mattress were allegedly set on fire with a person inside.
Early Morning Attack in Downtown Core
Toronto Police were called to the area near Charles and Yonge Streets, close to the intersection of Bloor and Yonge, at 6:11 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025. The emergency call reported a fire. Upon arrival, officers discovered a tent and mattress that had been deliberately ignited.
Investigators allege the accused, identified as Loewen Wolfe, not only set the tent and mattress ablaze but also threw additional items onto the tent to accelerate the flames. The victim was trapped inside the burning shelter at the time of the attack.
Victim Hospitalized with Critical Injuries
Emergency crews managed to pull the victim from the engulfed tent. The individual was transported to a hospital by paramedics and was listed in life-threatening condition. The nature and extent of the victim's injuries have not been publicly disclosed.
