A 30-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting two women in separate incidents in Toronto over the weekend. Samuel Opoku, who has no fixed address, was arrested on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, following an investigation by the Toronto Police Service.
Details of the Assaults
The first incident occurred on Saturday evening around 8:10 p.m. in the city's east end, near Dundas Street East and De Grassi Street, east of Broadview Avenue. Police allege that an unknown man approached a group of women walking on the sidewalk, grabbed one victim's forearm, made verbal sexual advances, then sexually assaulted her before fleeing. The woman did not sustain physical injuries.
The second assault took place the following day, Sunday, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the west end, near Dundas Street West and Bloor Street West. According to police, the victim was inside a commercial building when the suspect followed her into an office space, approached from behind, sexually assaulted her, and then left. She also was not physically harmed.
Arrest and Charges
Investigators released images of the suspect earlier on Tuesday, appealing for public assistance in identifying him. Later that same day, police located and arrested Opoku. He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent exposure. He is scheduled to appear in court.
Connection to 2019 Feces Attacks Questioned
While Toronto police typically note when an accused is known to them, they have refused to confirm whether Samuel Opoku is the same individual who made headlines in 2019 for allegedly throwing buckets of liquefied feces on unsuspecting victims. A police spokesperson stated on Wednesday, “We cannot confirm if an individual has a criminal history with police.”
In late November 2019, a man with the same name and age was accused of multiple unprovoked fecal attacks. On November 22, 2019, he allegedly entered the Robarts Library at the University of Toronto and poured a bucket of feces over a woman and a child. Two days later, he reportedly walked into Scott Library at York University and splashed feces on a woman and a man. The following day, he allegedly dumped fecal matter on a woman near College and McCaul Streets.
That suspect, then 23, was arrested and charged with five counts of assault with a weapon and five counts of mischief interfering with property. He was released on bail in December 2019 after a mental health court appearance. His lawyer at the time, Jordan Weisz, expressed confidence that his client understood the bail conditions and that the public would be protected. The final outcome of those charges remains unknown.
Police Appeal for Information
Authorities are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information about the recent sexual assaults to contact the sex crimes unit at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. Police emphasize that the public's assistance is crucial in ensuring safety and justice.
