Toronto Police have confirmed one of three suspects wanted in connection with a fatal September shooting is now in custody, while an intensive search continues for the two remaining individuals.
Suspect Turns Himself In
Donald Keeshig, a 29-year-old Toronto resident, surrendered to authorities on Sunday at Scarborough's 42 Division police station. He now faces a charge of second-degree murder related to the death of 42-year-old Yueyuan Dong from Woodbridge.
The incident dates back to September 24, 2025, when police responded to a shooting call in the Sheppard Avenue and Brimley Road area around 10 p.m. According to initial investigations, the victim became involved in a confrontation at a local establishment before the shooting occurred.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries
Emergency responders performed life-saving measures at the scene before rushing Dong to a nearby hospital. Despite medical intervention, Dong succumbed to his injuries on October 19, 2025, nearly a month after the violent encounter.
This tragic event marks Toronto's 35th homicide of 2025, adding to the city's violent crime statistics for the year.
Canada-Wide Manhunt Underway
While Keeshig remains in custody, Toronto Police have issued Canada-wide murder warrants for two other suspects believed to be connected to the case. Kai Chen, 29, of Markham, and Kye-Shawne Griffiths, 28, of Brampton, remain at large and are considered wanted individuals across the country.
