Langley RCMP Investigate Two Separate Targeted Stabbings Over Two Days
Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Langley are investigating two separate targeted stabbing incidents that occurred on consecutive days, sending three individuals to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have confirmed that while the timing is concerning, the two attacks are not related to each other.
Friday's Youth Stabbing Incident
On Friday, April 17, 2026, RCMP responded to a stabbing in the 27200-block of Fraser Highway in Langley where two youths were found with serious stab wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Police have characterized this incident as targeted, though specific details about the circumstances or potential suspects remain under investigation.
Thursday's Separate Attack
The previous day, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, Langley RCMP discovered a 46-year-old man with a serious stab wound in the 6400-block of 199 Street. This victim was also transported to hospital for medical attention. The Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team was deployed to assist with this investigation, which police also believe was a targeted attack.
Police Response and Community Concerns
Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP addressed community concerns about the consecutive incidents, stating: "We recognize that two stabbing incidents occurring on consecutive days are understandably concerning for the community. Police can confirm that today's incident is not related to the stabbing reported yesterday. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident."
In relation to Thursday's attack, authorities have made an arrest. A 36-year-old Langley man was taken into custody on Friday and remains detained as the investigation continues.
