Gatineau Man Charged in Arson Spree of Seven Fires

A 61-year-old man is facing charges following what Gatineau police have described as a wave of arson attacks that occurred over a five-day period in April. Between April 4 and April 8, officers responded to seven fires that targeted sheds, temporary shelters, and a building across the city.

Details of the Incidents

The fires took place on Beaudoin, Charles-Desnoyers, Saint-Denis, Notre-Dame, Saint-Louis, and James-Murray streets. According to a news release issued by police on May 5, no injuries were reported in any of the incidents. Investigators identified a common modus operandi linking the fires, which led to the arrest of a suspect.

Charges Laid

Carol Gingras, a resident of Gatineau, has been charged with several offenses, including arson causing property damage, arson causing a danger to human life, and failure to comply with a probation order. The charges stem from the series of fires that authorities believe were intentionally set.
