Drugs, Cash, Weapons Seized from Lethbridge Encampment

Police in Lethbridge have made a significant drug bust following a search of a tent in a downtown encampment, resulting in multiple charges against a local woman.

Arrest and Discovery During Warrant Enforcement

On January 1, 2026, officers from the Lethbridge Police Service's downtown unit were conducting patrols when they spotted a 39-year-old woman with outstanding warrants. She was located at an encampment situated along the 200 block of 7 Street North on the city's north side. The initial observation of drug paraphernalia outside her tent led to a more thorough search upon her arrest.

Substantial Haul of Drugs, Cash, and Weapons

The incidental search uncovered a significant cache of illegal items. Police confiscated a large quantity of drugs, including approximately 340 doses of fentanyl and 370 doses of methamphetamine. The seizure also included crack cocaine, numerous pills, and various drug packaging materials and scales.

In addition to the narcotics, officers found more than $7,700 in Canadian cash and an arsenal of weapons. The weapons seized from the tent included a hatchet, a knife, and two machetes.

Charges Laid in Connection with At-Risk Population

In a news release issued on Monday, January 5, police stated the evidence suggests the individual was engaged in selling drugs to the at-risk population in the downtown core.

The accused, identified as Andrea Rachel Weasel Fat, 39, of Lethbridge, now faces serious charges. She has been charged with:

  • Three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

Weasel Fat was remanded in custody as of Monday, awaiting a bail hearing. This seizure highlights ongoing police efforts to combat drug trafficking within the community, particularly in areas frequented by vulnerable individuals.
