A 30-year-old Windsor man is facing multiple serious charges, including impaired driving, following a hit-and-run collision that left a bicyclist with significant injuries in the early hours of February 20.
Early Morning Collision on Howard Avenue
According to Windsor Police Service reports, officers responded to a serious traffic incident shortly after 1 a.m. in the 2800 block of Howard Avenue. The collision involved a vehicle traveling northbound at what witnesses described as a high rate of speed striking a bicyclist.
Driver Flees Scene
Police confirmed that the driver failed to remain at the scene following the collision. The injured cyclist was transported to a local hospital with what authorities described as non-life threatening injuries, though the impact was serious enough to require medical attention.
Vehicle Located with Significant Damage
Officers later located the suspect vehicle on Edinborough Street. The vehicle showed substantial damage including a smashed front windshield and significant damage to the front grill, consistent with the reported collision.

When police interacted with the driver, they observed multiple indicators of alcohol impairment. Officers reported a strong smell of alcohol on the suspect's breath, along with slurred speech and difficulty maintaining balance during field interactions.
