Dog Missing After Caledon Home Invasion; Sibling Dispute and Mall Incident Reported

In a series of unsettling events across Ontario, a dog has gone missing following a home invasion in Caledon, a sibling dispute in Peterborough escalated into violence, and three boys were apprehended with imitation firearms at an Oshawa mall.

Caledon Home Invasion Leaves Dog Missing

The Caledon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police reported that a home invasion occurred on Tuesday around 1:50 a.m. at a residence near Mount Hope Road and Old Church Road. During the incident, the family dog, named Dumbledore, fled the home and has not been located since.

Dumbledore is described as a small dog with curly or wavy white fur. Investigators and the family are urging the public to be vigilant and report any sightings. The investigation is being led by the Caledon Community Street Crime Unit, with support from the Caledon Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services. Authorities have stated there is no current threat to public safety.

Sibling Dispute in Peterborough Leads to Charges

In a separate incident, a sibling argument turned violent in Peterborough, resulting in charges. The OPP’s Peterborough County detachment responded to an assault call on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. at a residence within Peterborough County.

According to police, two adult siblings were arguing when the situation escalated into a physical fight. One sibling allegedly grabbed an edged weapon and advanced toward the other, but it was wrestled away. After losing control of the weapon, the man then grabbed a pot containing a boiling substance from the stove and threw it at his sibling.

A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. His name has not been released. The victim, whose gender was not disclosed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

Three Boys Caught with Imitation Firearms at Oshawa Mall

In Oshawa, three boys were caught with imitation firearms at the Oshawa Centre on Wednesday evening. Durham Regional Police responded to an armed person call at the mall, located at King Street West and Stevenson Road South, around 7:50 p.m.

Mall security alerted police after observing three males with concealed handguns. Tactical Support Unit officers, assisted by frontline personnel, located and took the suspects into custody without incident. A search revealed two concealed imitation firearms.

A 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy were arrested and released unconditionally to their parents. All youth were issued formal trespass notices, banning them from the Oshawa Centre.
