Calgary police have launched a public appeal for assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be responsible for two separate sexual assaults that occurred within minutes of each other near the Chinook LRT station.
Assaults Occurred in Quick Succession
The incidents took place on Friday, December 13, at approximately 4:45 p.m. According to investigators, a woman was walking northbound on 1A Street S.W., near 58 Avenue S.W., after departing the Chinook CTrain station. She was confronted by an unknown man who allegedly touched her in a sexual manner.
Second Victim Seen on CCTV
While reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the area, police made a concerning discovery. "Investigators observed a second woman being assaulted in a similar manner at the same location just minutes later," stated a police press release. Authorities note that this second victim has not yet come forward to report the incident to police.
The suspect, described only as an unknown male, remains at large. Police believe the same individual is responsible for both assaults.
Appeal for Dashcam Footage and Information
In a bid to gather more evidence, Calgary police are specifically requesting dashcam video from anyone who was driving in the vicinity of 1A Street and 58 Avenue S.W. between 4:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on December 13.
