A Miami man experienced a terrifying and bizarre home invasion early Sunday morning, waking up to find an intruder not just in his home, but allegedly sexually assaulting him and then urinating on him before fleeing, according to local police reports.
Shocking Details of the Early Morning Attack
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2025. The victim told investigators he may have left his front door unlocked. He was startled awake to find a man on top of him, "touching my penis over my clothing," as stated in a police report obtained by WPLG.
The situation escalated rapidly. The alleged burglar then exposed himself and urinated on the victim. Before running from the apartment, the intruder grabbed the victim's clothes and uttered the cryptic phrase, "I know you."
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Police, acting on the victim's description, located a suspect just blocks away. He was identified as Maykel Rodriguez, 34, a U.S. Air Force veteran. The victim was able to positively identify Rodriguez, police said. Upon arrest, Rodriguez refused to speak or answer questions.
He was initially booked on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, battery, and indecent exposure.
Judge Denies Bond, Upgrades Charges
During a court appearance on Monday, prosecutors argued for Rodriguez to be held without bond. "The facts are pretty egregious," prosecutor Nessa Eth told the court. "He's breaking into someone's room at four in the morning, molesting him, urinating on him."
Despite a defense argument citing Rodriguez's five years of military service, Judge Tanya Brinkley denied bond. The judge found probable cause to upgrade the primary charge to burglary with assault or battery, noting "there may be more to the story."
If convicted on the upgraded charge, Maykel Rodriguez faces a potential life sentence. The case continues as police and prosecutors prepare their evidence.
