Arson Attempt at Windsor Residence May Connect to Ongoing Homicide Investigation
Ontario Provincial Police have publicly released surveillance footage capturing a targeted arson attempt that investigators believe may be connected to the ongoing homicide case of Nancy Grewal. The 45-year-old Windsor resident was fatally stabbed outside a residence on Todd Lane in LaSalle on March 3, 2026.
Details of the Violent Attack
Grewal, who worked as a personal support worker, was reportedly alone at a client's home when she was attacked. Emergency medical services transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The investigation into her killing remains active, with authorities continuing to pursue leads.
Previous Threats and Safety Concerns
Grewal, who immigrated to Canada from India in 2018, maintained a social media presence and was known as a vocal critic of the Khalistan Indian separatist movement. In November 2025, she posted a video expressing fear for her safety after someone attempted to set her house on fire.
Police confirmed on Sunday that Grewal's Windsor home had indeed been targeted in an attempted arson. Windsor Police Service officers responded to her residence early on November 8, 2025, regarding what they described as a deliberately set fire.
Surveillance Footage Reveals Arson Details
The released surveillance video shows a van stopping in front of Grewal's home. A man exits from the passenger side carrying a gasoline can, pours liquid onto her front porch, ignites it, then quickly returns to the vehicle before fleeing the area.
"Investigators from the Windsor Police Service arson unit thoroughly examined this incident and pursued all potential leads," stated OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk in an official release. "Their investigation remains ongoing, and a suspect has not yet been identified."
Police Seek Public Assistance
Authorities are releasing the surveillance footage in hopes that the public can help identify both the vehicle and individuals involved in the arson attempt. Additionally, investigators have requested assistance regarding a vehicle that may have been parked on the gravel laneway on the north side of Todd Lane at 10th Street between 8:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on March 3.
LaSalle officials revealed last Wednesday that they requested further support from the Ontario Provincial Police. The following day, homicide investigators disclosed their belief that the suspect fled in a vehicle parked in a laneway extending from 10th Street, north of Todd Lane.
This vehicle might have been visible to drivers traveling northbound on 10th Street toward Todd Lane. Investigators are also interested in speaking with anyone who observed vehicles parked in that laneway during the weeks preceding March 3.
The case continues to develop as law enforcement agencies collaborate to uncover connections between the attempted arson and the tragic homicide of Nancy Grewal.
