Pickering parking lot collision kills 68-year-old man

Durham Regional Police said a 68-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in a Pickering parking lot. Officers responded at about 10:15 p.m. to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian at 1105 Kingston Rd. A black Ford SUV was driving through the parking lot when it struck the pedestrian, who became trapped under the vehicle. Responding police officers lifted the SUV to extract the pedestrian and performed life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Ajax dump truck collision kills 64-year-old woman

In the second fatal incident, a 64-year-old woman died after being struck by a dump truck in Ajax. Officers responded at about 3:50 p.m. to a collision at Hunt St. and Harwood Ave. S. Police said the dump truck was making a right turn from Harwood Ave. S. to go west on Hunt St. when it struck the pedestrian. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency services, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Five injured in Toronto waterfront shooting

Five people were injured and five people have been arrested following an overnight shooting near Toronto's waterfront. Toronto Police said the incident happened shortly after 3 a.m. in the Polson and Cherry Sts. area. When officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds and two with other injuries. An altercation occurred between the suspect and the victim, during which the suspect produced a knife, chased the victim, and swung the knife at them. Police also allege the suspect threatened to harm or kill the victim's pet.
