Canada Post has released a new series of stamps honouring three Indigenous sports leaders and advocates: Bryan Trottier, Edward Lennie, and Wilton Littlechild. The stamps were unveiled on June 17, 2026, recognizing their contributions to sports and Indigenous communities.
Bryan Trottier
Bryan Trottier, a member of the Métis Nation, is a Hockey Hall of Famer who won four Stanley Cups with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. He also served as a coach and scout, and has been involved in numerous charitable initiatives supporting Indigenous youth.
Edward Lennie
Edward Lennie, from the Tlicho First Nation in the Northwest Territories, is a renowned dog musher and advocate for Indigenous sports. He has competed in major races like the Yukon Quest and has worked to promote traditional sports and healthy lifestyles among Indigenous youth.
Wilton Littlechild
Wilton Littlechild, a Cree from Alberta, is a former Olympic swimmer and a lawyer. He competed in the 1978 Commonwealth Games and has been a long-time advocate for Indigenous rights and sports development. He served as a commissioner on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
The stamps are part of Canada Post's ongoing efforts to recognize Indigenous achievements and contributions to Canadian society. They are now available for purchase at post offices across the country.
