Investigators with the Saskatoon Police Service's serious assault and general investigative units are actively searching for suspects in two separate violent incidents that occurred in the city. The first involved a carjacking at gunpoint, while the second was a stabbing that left a man injured.
Carjacking on 17th Street West
Around midnight on Tuesday, a person was sitting in their vehicle near 17th Street West and Avenue W South when an unknown man and woman approached and stole the vehicle at gunpoint. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Stabbing in College Park
In a separate incident early Wednesday morning, police were called to the area of 14th Street East and Acadia Drive in College Park at approximately 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a confrontation had occurred between multiple suspects and a male victim, resulting in the victim being stabbed several times. The suspects and victim did not appear to know each other, police said.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
Police are urging anyone with information about either incident to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
