Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the driver of a transport truck after a pedestrian was struck on Highway 417 in Ottawa early Friday morning.

Incident Details

The collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. on May 22, 2026, on the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Bronson Avenue. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

OPP say the driver of the transport truck did not remain at the scene. Investigators are reviewing traffic cameras and asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

The westbound lanes of Highway 417 were closed for several hours for the investigation but have since reopened. Traffic delays were significant during the morning commute.
