NYT Editorial Board Calls Todd Blanche 'Unfit' for Attorney General
NYT: Todd Blanche Unfit for Attorney General

The New York Times editorial board pulled no punches with its blunt call on Monday for the Senate to reject Donald Trump's nomination of Todd Blanche to become his next attorney general.

Scathing Editorial

In a scathing editorial headlined "Todd Blanche Is Unfit For Office", the newspaper's board noted four ways in which the president's former personal lawyer, who has been acting AG since the firing of Pam Bondi in April, "had disqualified himself" from the permanent gig.

Allegations Against Blanche

The editorial slammed his celebration of the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and accused him of misleading Congress, violating Justice Department ethics standards, debasing the Justice Department, and helping to "undermine its post-Watergate commitment to independence."

Blanche "has not only helped turn the department into an instrument of Mr. Trump's will, but has said he sees nothing wrong in doing so," the board wrote.

Trump has previously called Blanche "a very talented guy."

According to PunchBowl News, Blanche could be confirmed by the end of the summer. He kick-started the confirmation process on Monday by meeting with GOP senators.
