York Regional Police have recovered a loaded firearm and charged two Toronto residents, one as young as 15 years old, in connection with a home invasion in Vaughan that occurred on May 15, 2026.

Incident Details

According to police, the home invasion took place at a residence in the area of Highway 7 and Keele Street. Officers responded to a call reporting a break-in and robbery. Upon arrival, they discovered that the suspects had fled the scene. A subsequent investigation led to the identification of two suspects, both from Toronto.

Charges Laid

A 15-year-old male youth has been charged with break and enter, robbery, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and other related offences. An 18-year-old man from Toronto has also been charged with similar offences. The firearm recovered by police has been linked to the home invasion, officials said.

Police Statement

York Regional Police emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the danger posed by the recovered weapon. “This was a violent crime that could have escalated further. We are relieved that no one was physically injured,” said a police spokesperson. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing for any additional witnesses to come forward.

Court Appearances

The two suspects are scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket. The 15-year-old was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while the adult suspect was released on conditions.
