House Ethics Committee Investigates Rep. Chuck Edwards Over Harassment Claims
Ethics Panel Probes Rep. Edwards on Harassment Claims

The House Ethics Committee announced on Thursday that it will investigate Representative Chuck Edwards, a Republican from North Carolina, over recent allegations that he may have violated conduct standards. The probe focuses on claims that Edwards “created or fostered a hostile work environment and engaged in sexual harassment.”

Allegations of Misconduct

The investigation follows a report by Axios detailing inappropriate behavior toward two female staffers in their 20s. According to the report, Edwards allegedly gave personal gifts, organized casino trips, offered promotions, and wrote handwritten notes to the employees. One staffer later complained about his conduct and expressed fear of retaliation.

Committee Statement

“The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), is reviewing allegations that Representative Chuck Edwards may have created or fostered a hostile work environment and engaged in sexual harassment in violation of the Code of Official Conduct or any other applicable standard of conduct,” the panel stated.
