Bystanders in Monterey County are being hailed as heroes after they helped save a woman from a suspected human trafficker who was strangling her, according to sheriff's deputies.

Andres Rosas, spokesman for the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, reported that witnesses saw the suspect attacking the female victim and immediately called for emergency assistance. 'They were watching our suspect strangling our female victim, and they did the right thing and called for emergency help,' Rosas said.
The quick actions of the bystanders allowed deputies to respond swiftly and apprehend the suspect, who is now facing charges related to human trafficking and assault. The victim was treated for injuries and is receiving support services.
