Firearm Trafficking Charges in Calgary Woman's Murder Investigation
Calgary Woman's Murder Leads to Firearm Trafficking Charges

Calgary police have laid firearms trafficking charges against a man in connection with the murder of a young woman last year, following an investigation into the weapon used in the crime.

Madisson Cobb, 23, was fatally shot on July 19, 2025, in a parkade at the Shops at Heritage, located at 8335 Macleod Trail S.E., near her workplace. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest and Charges

Two days after the killing, Devon Bradley Malik, 27, the victim's boyfriend, was charged with first-degree murder. At the time of the shooting, Malik was under a court order prohibiting contact with Cobb or attendance at her place of employment.

The investigation into the firearm used in the slaying led to the arrest of Gordon Kesh Cameron, 44, of Calgary. Cameron faces two counts of firearms trafficking, two counts of failing to report a firearm lost or stolen, and one count of possession of prohibited devices.

Weapons Seized

Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 2700 block of 16 Avenue S.W. on February 3, seizing four rifles and three shotguns. One of the shotguns had a defaced serial number. Additionally, six prohibited magazines, numerous air rifles, and multiple boxes of ammunition were recovered.

Shortly after the arrest of Malik, the firearm used in Cobb's death was recovered with a defaced serial number, prompting a separate investigation by the Firearms Investigation Team.

Ongoing Investigation

Police continue to investigate the shotgun with the altered serial number. Furthermore, a Norinco 1911A1 handgun registered to Cameron, with serial number BA25849, is missing.

Staff Sergeant Mike Shute of the homicide unit emphasized that the police focus extends beyond initial arrests. "When information indicates others may have played a role, including facilitating access to firearms, we will continue to pursue those connections and hold everyone involved accountable," he said.

Cameron, who goes by the name Kesh Cameron, was arrested on Tuesday but has been released pending a court appearance on June 2.
