A 33-year-old man has admitted to killing another man during a violent altercation outside a pub in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Timothy Vansnick initially faced a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 35-year-old individual. The incident occurred on January 31, 2025, outside the John B Pub located at 1000 Austin Avenue. Police responded to the scene shortly before 9:45 p.m., where they discovered the victim suffering from a life-threatening injury. Despite emergency efforts, the victim, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2026, Vansnick entered a guilty plea to the reduced charge of manslaughter, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). IHIT spokesperson Sergeant Freda Fong emphasized the significance of this development in the judicial process. 'The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,' Fong stated in a press release. 'As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with the victim's family, friends, and those who were impacted by this tragic death.' Vansnick is scheduled to be sentenced on December 3 and 4 at the Port Coquitlam courthouse.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), suspects used a stolen front-end loader to break into a VantageOne credit union branch in the early morning hours of October 8, 2025. The thieves managed to remove the exterior automated teller machine (ATM) but failed to extract any cash from it. The ATM was later recovered by law enforcement, with no money missing. However, the audacious and deliberate theft caused approximately $150,000 in damage to the building, RCMP reported.
