Community Celebration Supports Royal Columbian Hospital's New Acute Care Tower
The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is calling on residents to join The Great Give Back, a special community celebration scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026. This free, family-friendly event will take place at Queen's Park Sportsplex in New Westminster from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering a day of entertainment, education, and support for one of British Columbia's most critical healthcare facilities.
Honoring Generosity and Looking Forward
Presented by Pan American Silver, The Great Give Back marks a significant milestone as Royal Columbian Hospital prepares to open the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower. The event serves as both a celebration of community generosity that helped bring the tower to completion and a look ahead at how this new facility will enhance patient care across the region.
"The Great Give Back reflects the extraordinary commitment of our community," says Jeff Norris, President and CEO of Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. "Every gift, partnership, and show of support has helped bring the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower to this point. As we prepare for the tower to welcome its first patients, this event gives us an opportunity to come together and celebrate the people who have made this progress possible."
Activities and Opportunities for All Ages
The event promises a diverse range of activities designed to engage attendees of all ages:
- Live entertainment from local artists
- A family carnival featuring bouncy castles, face painters, balloon artists, circus school workshops, and games
- A healthcare career and education fair with information from Fraser Health and healthcare education providers
- Food trucks and local retailers
- Health screening information and resources
One particularly meaningful opportunity allows attendees to have their photo included in a major art installation that will be permanently displayed inside the new Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower. This installation will serve as an enduring acknowledgment of the community's vital role in this historic moment for Royal Columbian Hospital.
Supporting Critical Care for British Columbians
Royal Columbian Hospital serves as British Columbia's most comprehensive critical care hospital, with one in three British Columbians relying on its services. The hospital uniquely combines trauma, cardiac, neurosciences, high-risk obstetrics, and neonatal intensive care on a single site, treating some of the province's most seriously ill and injured patients.
Since 1978, donors to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation have helped fund priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education, and innovation at the hospital. The Great Give Back continues this tradition of community support, with partial funding for the event provided by the City of New Westminster.
Everyone is encouraged to attend with family and friends to show support for exceptional healthcare in the region. For additional information about The Great Give Back, community members can visit the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation's website.
