A Timmins couple is celebrating an extraordinary milestone: their 80th wedding anniversary. Raymond Taylor, 99, and Theresa Taylor, 98, have been together for eight decades and continue to live in their own home, a testament to their enduring love and resilience.
A Love Story That Stands the Test of Time
The couple, who married in 1946, credit their long and happy marriage to mutual respect, a shared sense of humor, and the ability to forgive. 'We never went to bed angry,' Raymond said. 'And we always made sure to laugh every day.' Theresa added that patience and understanding have been key throughout their journey.
Their secret to a lasting relationship is simple: 'It's about teamwork. You have to support each other through the good times and the bad,' Raymond explained. The couple has weathered many storms together, including financial hardships and health challenges, but their bond has only grown stronger.
Living Independently at 99 and 98
Despite their advanced ages, the Taylors remain remarkably active. They still live in the same home they moved into over 50 years ago, and they manage daily tasks with the help of family and community support. Their daughter, Mary, visits regularly and helps with grocery shopping and household chores.
'They are an inspiration to everyone who knows them,' Mary said. 'Their love and commitment to each other is something we all aspire to.'

To honor their milestone, the city of Timmins organized a small gathering at the local community center, where friends, neighbors, and officials came together to congratulate the couple. Mayor George Pirie presented them with a certificate of recognition, praising their dedication to each other and the community.
'Raymond and Theresa are a shining example of what true love looks like,' Pirie said. 'Their 80-year journey is a rare and beautiful thing, and we are honored to celebrate with them.'
The Taylors say they are grateful for the outpouring of support and plan to continue enjoying their time together. 'Every day is a gift,' Theresa said. 'We just take it one day at a time, with a smile.'
