The annual YQR Food Truck Wars in Regina drew a great crowd despite heavy rain on June 26 and 27. The event, held at Victoria Park from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, featured dozens of food trucks offering a variety of cuisines, along with live music and family-friendly activities.
Rain Doesn't Dampen Spirits
Organizers reported strong attendance as attendees braved the wet weather to sample offerings from local vendors. The event, now in its 10th year, has become a staple of Regina's summer festival scene.
According to Sierra D'Souza Butts of CTV News, the crowd remained enthusiastic despite the downpour. Many visitors brought umbrellas and rain gear, creating a festive atmosphere under the grey skies.
Event Highlights
Food truck owners expressed gratitude for the turnout, with some reporting they sold out of popular items early. The event also featured a competition where attendees voted for their favorite truck, with prizes awarded for best dish and best presentation.
Victoria Park provided ample space for social distancing, and organizers set up additional covered areas to shield patrons from the rain. Live bands performed on a covered stage, ensuring entertainment continued uninterrupted.
Community Support
The YQR Food Truck Wars is organized by the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) and supported by local sponsors. Proceeds from the event help fund community initiatives.
“We’re thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout despite the weather,” said a BID spokesperson. “It shows how much Regina loves its food trucks and community events.”
