Windsor's culinary landscape is poised for a flavorful transformation as Scaddabush Italian Kitchen and Bar prepares to launch its inaugural location in the city this spring. The popular Ontario-based chain will occupy the former Tommy's Bar-B-Q space at the Roundhouse Centre on Howard Avenue, marking a significant addition to the local dining scene.
A New Gathering Spot for the Community
"We're excited to share that Scaddabush Italian Kitchen and Bar is getting ready to open its doors in Windsor," announced Service Inspired Restaurants, the chain's parent company, in a recent social media post. The restaurant is scheduled to welcome patrons in April or May, though an exact opening date remains to be confirmed.
Rebecca Currie, talent acquisition lead for Service Inspired Restaurants, expressed particular enthusiasm about the Windsor expansion. "Opening a new location is always special, but doing it in a city with as much heart, pride, and personality as Windsor? That's next-level exciting," Currie stated.
More Than Just a Restaurant
Currie emphasized that Scaddabush aims to become an integral part of the community fabric. "This isn't just another restaurant, it's a new local hangout, a place to gather over huge bowls of pasta, handcrafted mozz and our signature hospitality," she explained. "We're bringing the Scaddabush energy to the neighbourhood, and we can't wait to become part of the Windsor story."
The name Scaddabush itself carries meaning—it's Italian slang for "a little bit of everything," reflecting the restaurant's diverse Mediterranean-inspired menu designed for sharing among family and friends.
Signature Offerings and Economic Impact
Scaddabush has built its reputation on several culinary pillars:
- Scratch-made pastas prepared fresh daily
- Hand-tossed pizzas with authentic Italian techniques
- Fresh mozzarella made in-house each day
- A menu focused on shareable dishes and genuine hospitality
The Windsor location will represent the chain's 15th establishment in Ontario, joining other restaurants primarily located in the Greater Toronto Area, as well as in London and Guelph. Beyond culinary contributions, the new restaurant is expected to generate substantial economic benefits for the community.
Job Creation and Hiring Initiatives
The expansion will create more than 100 employment opportunities in Windsor. Service Inspired Restaurants conducted a hiring fair from February 17 to March 8 to fill various front and back-of-house positions. However, the company continues to seek an assistant general manager to help lead the team as preparations for the spring opening continue.
This development comes amid other notable restaurant openings in Windsor, including Professor Zaaa's pizza establishment and Nico Taverna's new Walkerville location, indicating a vibrant and growing food scene in the region.
